Historic Kenya Based Afraha Stadium Upgrades From Heritage To Hightech
Kenya’s historic Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, established in 1948, is undergoing major refurbishment to expand seating to 20,000 and meet international sports standards

Established in 1948, the Afraha Stadium is more of a cultural heritage to Kenya than just a sporting facility, for the Nakuru-based facility has witnessed a range of events, from hosting competitive football clubs like Ulinzi Stars to major political rallies still commemorated in Nakuru's calendars. Against this backdrop, the government of Kenya has accelerated the refurbishment of the Afraha stadium, expanding its seating capacity to a massive 20,000 seats. Apart from the heritage significance, the rationale behind the project is to build international standard sports infrastructure.
Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has announced real-time tracking of the project being developed by the Kenya Defense Forces, to have reached critical stages of completion.
