Tennis infrastructural gap in India
Tennis court infrastructure is one of its kind with specific dimensions that play a key role. Known as the game of geometry and movement with the exact same dimensions of the court being built across the country. This is being done to universalize the court's ensuring fair play in events like the Wimbledon. Indian tennis infrastructure requires a comprehensive overhaul, with the major courts centered around Bangalore, Pune, and Delhi hosting the significant ATP/ITF matches. Indian women have proven the potential of the country in the niche sport, which requires the government to look after the major infrastructural requirements.
According to a 2021 ITF Global Tennis report, India has a total of 28000 tennis centers which also points to the fact that the sport is centered around metropolitans only. Grassroots level penetration is the need of the hour for the growth of Tennis to get out next Sania Mirza.
