Galenoei furher added that the Iran team arrived in L.A., less than 18 hours before their clash against Belgium on Sunday, a shorter time span before their first game, leaving them limited time to recover and practice for the next game.
Iran’s coach was taking an indirect hit at the U.S. government for their differed treatment following the start of the Gulf War, earlier this year. Ever since the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Iran’s football team has been facing travel and other logistical issues.
Amir expressed gratitude towards FIFA for trying their best to reduce the inconvenience for Iran’s national team and reduce the restrictions put on them.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is being co-hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. Iran has been placed in Group G along with Egypt, Belgium, and New Zealand. Iran has been placed at second position with two points.
