Human Chains Guard Stadiums as Iran Sports Infrastructure Enters Danger Zone
Amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s sports infrastructure has become an unexpected frontline, with reported strikes on key facilities like Azadi Stadium and the Bozorgmehr Sports Complex escalating concerns.

The Strait of Hormuz seems to be at a stalemate position with escalated dialogues from both the concerned counterparts. In spite of threats from the US to open the trade tap, Iran refuses to take a step back.
Now comes the ethical dilemma. Alireza Rahimi, Iran's deputy sports minister, has urged the citizens and athletes of Iran to defend their sports infrastructure by forming human chains around the facilities. This signals the peak of escalations , for the president of the US is known for keeping his word, which in this case would invoke a serious humanitarian crisis.

What it means for the future of Iran's sports infrastructure
After the bombing of the 12000-seater Azadi stadium and the Bozorgmehr Sports Complex, known especially as the home for Iran's kabaddi team, the minister has now appealed for this drastic measure.
“Many of our sports facilities were targeted. Sports facilities where international athletes have competed before are also being targeted.”, said Iran's sports and youth minister Ahmad Donyamali expressing concern over Iran's participation in the FIFA World cup.“Under these circumstances, the possibility of Iran participating in the World Cup matches in the US is very low. But, if the relevant security guarantees are provided, our government will make the decision on Iran's participation in the World Cup," he added earlier.
Sports infrastructure plays a critical role in the development of an area with its accessibility to quality training and equipment that enables the civilians to inculcate a healthy lifestyle while it provides an impetus for the athletes to sharpen their skills.
