IPL 2026: 5 SRH Players Expected To Create Impact At Revamped M Chinnaswamy Stadium
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium has undergone major renovation considering the security and infrastructural aspects.

What could you have asked for better season openers for the IPL 2026? It's the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The venue for the game, iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium, is located at the heart of Bangalore. The stadium had been under constant scrutiny for the past year, but finally got the nod from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to host the home games for RCB. But for a seamless continuation of the event, the KSCA, Bangalore police department and the Chinnaswamy Stadium management team have taken several major renovation measures, be it security or elevating the fan experience.
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is one of India's most iconic cricket venues. For IPL 2026, the stadium has gone through a massive makeover, all because of a tragic stampede on June 4, 2025, that killed 11 fans during RCB's IPL title celebrations. Here is a look at everything that has changed. One of the biggest problems the stadium had was too few entry and exit points, which caused dangerous crowding. To fix this, the KSCA increased the number of entry points by constructing six new gates around the stadium, while also widening the existing ones. In total, 13 new gates have been added to reduce congestion, making it much easier for fans to get in and out safely. Entry and exit points have been fully redesigned and all gates will now open four hours before a match, so fans are not rushing in at the last minute.
New walkways have been built, and a holding area has been created near the old National Cricket Academy, along with dedicated entry and exit routes specifically for emergency services. The old NCA premises have been equipped with ramps and tarpaulin sheets to serve as a waiting area for fans as they make their way to their respective stands. Security at the stadium has been completely upgraded. The stadium now uses advanced AI-based CCTV cameras placed inside, outside, and in every seating section. The entire system is connected to an AI tool called "Jarvis," which counts the crowd in real-time and sends out automatic alerts if any area becomes too crowded. In total, over 500 AI-enabled CCTV cameras have been installed.
RCB has invested around ₹7 crore in AI-powered CCTV cameras, a centralised command centre, baggage scanners, and revamped entry-exit systems. Fans are not allowed to carry electronic items, backpacks, or large bags inside the stadium. Getting to and from the stadium has also been made easier and safer. Street parking has been banned on major roads like Queens Road and Cubbon Road. Parking can be pre-booked, and ticket holders will be entitled to free metro access on match days.
Metro services will run every three minutes to handle the large crowds, and each match ticket will include a Metro QR code. The venue has been cleared to host matches at its full capacity of 33,000 spectators. Ticket booking has been restricted strictly to the official RCB app to prevent fraud, and celebrations outside the stadium have been banned to avoid overcrowding on surrounding roads.
All these changes don’t just make the M Chinnaswamy Stadium a bigger stadium but also a better place to witness all the live action when a top-tier team like SRH faces RCB. Here are 5 Sunrisers Hyderabad’s key players who can create an impact in Bangalore today.
Abhishek Sharma

The poster boy of Indian T20 cricket, Abhishek Sharma, has been retained by the SRH for ₹14. Known for his explosive batting right from the moment of entering the field, Sharma has been one of the players to look out for both teams. Though he was seen out of rhythm in the initial stages of the recent T20 World Cup, he contributed when needed the most. He smashed a 21-ball half-century and redeemed himself. According to Cric Metric, in the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Abhishek Sharma has played just 2 matches and scored 34 runs in both games. His strike rate of 174.4 concerns the opposition in these high-stakes games.
Ishan Kishan

In the absence of Pat Cummins, it was considered that the captaincy for the Sunrisers Hyderabad would be handed over to Proteas Heinrich Klaasen. But guess who emerged as the top contender for the role? Ishan Kishan has proved himself time and time again. He led Jharkhand to its first-ever SMAT title and played a key role in India's 2026 T20 World Cup campaign. Coming back into the international cricket landscape after almost two years, Kishan has been the spearhead for his team, no matter the circumstances. Ishan Kishan has played 4 games in his IPL journey at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, and his last performance at the venue was exceptional when he s scored 94 runs against RCB.
Travis Head

The “Brothers of Destruction”, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have been the key pillars for the entire SRH batting unit. It has been witnessed that if Head is sent back to the pavilion early, the lineup appears to stumble. That’s the importance he carries in the team. He has played 5 games in the Chinnaswamy Stadium and scored 200 runs with a strike rate of 185.2. He was also the highest run getter in the 2025-26 Ashes with 629 runs at an average of 62.9. This shows his ability to switch gears according to the situation.
Heinrich Klaasen

The former Proteas batter has been one of the SRH’s premium overseas players. He was retained by the Sunrisers management for a sum of ₹23 crores. He has been featured in 49 IPL games and scored a total of 1480 runs at a strike rate nearing 170. He hit one of the fastest IPL centuries when he smashed 105* of just 39 balls against Shah Rukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders.
Nitish Kumar Reddy

The young all-rounder from Andhra Pradesh has registered a very unique record under his name. Nitish Kumar Reddy is the first-ever player from Andhra Pradesh to represent India in all three formats of cricket. For the Sunriders Hyderabad, a player acquired on the base price of ₹20 lakhs, has significantly contributed to reaching ₹6 crores for retention. He didn’t get much exposure at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, as according to stats, he has played just one game at the venue, contributing four runs with the bat and conceding 13 runs in his 2 overs with a wicket.
