The sports infrastructure push in Ujjain has entered the execution phase with the award of a ₹23.37 crore contract to B.R. Goyal Infrastructure Ltd for constructing a hockey and athletics stadium at the Nanakheda-based Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Sports Complex

The holy land of Ujjain is gearing up its sports infrastructural vision ahead of the financial impetus that the entire country shall receive from the hosting of the Ahmedabad-based Commonwealth Games 2030.
CM Mohan Yadav had performed a bhumi pujan dedicated to the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Sports Complex in Nanakheda, Ujjain, which shall position itself as the state's bid to portray itself as a major sports hub. The FIH hockey women's cup qualifiers have further kickstarted the hockey trend in the country.
The Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation has sanctioned a sum of ₹23.37 crore to the renowned architectural firm, B.R. Goyal Infrastructure Ltd. The firm has been held accountable for the construction of the hockey and athletic stadium. The project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months, including the rainy season.

Earlier the CM had allocated ₹48.7 crores for the comprehensive completion of the sports infrastructural vision for the Nankheda area, including a synthetic hockey turf, an athletic synthetic track, lawn tennis synthetic courts, and a grass football ground. A shooting range, badminton hall, Mallakhamb area, and gymnasium are also targeted to be built.
What's next for Ujjain?
Chief Minister Yadav emphasized Madhya Pradesh’s growing prominence in sports. “Earlier, our athletes mainly participated in Asian Games and Olympics without medal wins. Now, thanks to 11 sports academies across 18 sports, our players are winning medals at both Asian and Olympic levels. Ujjain will now contribute significantly to national and international sporting achievements.”
