Neeraj Chopra is all set for his comeback at the Doha Diamond League 2026. The Olympic gold medalist was ruled out for nine long months due to his back injury. The star javelin thrower will be competing on 19th June in a world-class 9-man javelin throw field. He was last seen in action in the World Athletics Championship 2025.
Neeraj Chopra To Face Tough Opponents
Challenges for the javelin star are far from over. The world-class javelin throwers like Anderson Peters (Granada), Keshorn Walcott (Trinidad & Tobago), Jakub Vadlejch (The Czech Republic), Curtis Thompson (The US), and Rumesh Pathirage (Sri Lanka) are participating in the Doha Diamond League. Although Chopra’s personal best of 90.23 m is enough to scare the competitors, he has other international championships, including the Commonwealth Games 2026, lining up his schedule.
AFI Gives A Green Sign For Olympic Medallist
Neeraj Chopra injury update is finally here. Adille Sumariwalla, the vice president of Athletics Federation of India (AFI), reassured, "Neeraj is now training and getting ready to compete probably in the next 10 days or so. He is recovering well and recovering fast," However, the Federation added that his finalization in the squad will depend on clearing the standardized distance of 82.61 m.
The Commonwealth Games 2026
The Athletics Federation of India has also listed Neeraj Chopra among the 32 Indian athletes who will participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Games. The games will be held in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August. The Games will only host 10 sports this season. The Federation has also released the names for the boxing squad during the national trials in Patiala in May.
