Kenya Accelerates AFCON Push with Nyeri Stadium Revamp Under Ruto’s Vision
Following concerns raised by the Confederation of African Football over infrastructure readiness for AFCON 2027, Kenya has intensified its sports development efforts under President William Ruto

After the Confederation of African Football released a detailed report on the inadequacies of the Ugandan sports infrastructure ahead of AFCON 2027, Tanzania and Kenya have received the signal to step up their game, for countries like South Africa are bidding to replace them as hosting partners.
President Ruto's vision for Kenyan sports architecture was witnessed in the payment of the massive fees of $30 million paid to the CAF in order to host the large-scale event. After the Nandi and Migori overhaul, the government of Kenya is back with the Nyeri makeover this time.
Once again a comprehensive plan has been developed for the infrastructural advancement of the entire area, with roads, markets, and hospitality in the pipeline. Staying consistent with the 900 Ksh funding for a sporting marvel in each of these areas, President Ruto has once again sanctioned the Ruringu stadium, targeted to be completed by December.
