Kenya Pays $30 Million CAF Hosting Fee, Accelerates AFCON 2027 Preparations
Amid concerns raised over infrastructure gaps in Uganda’s Hoima City Stadium, Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to successfully co-host the Africa Cup of Nations 2027

The recent report of the Confederation of African Sports Federations took the world by surprise as it highlighted the inconsistencies in Ugandan infrastructure , specifically the Hoima City Stadium, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.
President William Ruto had prepared a comprehensive plan to develop the sports infrastructure of the country seen in the Nandi and Migori overhaul. Kenya’s Sports Cabinet Secretary, Salim Mvurya, took to social media to inform that the country has paid its due of $30 million to CAF for hosting the African Cup of Nations along with Uganda and Tanzania.

Statement by Mr. Secretary himself
Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Salim Mvurya, said, "This payment reaffirms Kenya’s credibility, readiness, and unwavering commitment to delivering a successful continental tournament.We have brought together key players from both the public and private sectors to ensure all critical areas of delivery are covered.
Next month, we will deliberate on the establishment of a harmonized framework to support visa facilitation, coordinated tax exemptions, customs measures, and streamlined clearance procedures for all goods and services directly related to AFCON.”
He further highlighted that the government had also constituted a restructured multi-agency local organizing committee.The plan included building state-of-the-art stadiums like the Bukhungu Stadium , estimated to have a seating capacity of 45000, and the 20000-seater Afraha Stadium .The 900 million KSh, being the lucky number, had also been used for the Kiambu-based Thika stadium.
