“How Long Can India Ignore Him?” - RCB Captain Rajat Patidar’s Rise Gains Momentum
RCB won the IPL trophy twice in a row under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar.

After the back-to-back disappointment of straight 17years winning the trophy for two consecutive years under the same captaincy marks a huge milestone for the team and the captain as well. Rajat Patidar plays in the Ranji Trophy for Madhya Pradesh and has been playing under this franchise since 2021. In 2022 he remained unsold during the auction and joined the team mid-season.
Man has delivered a remarkable performance in the qualifier 1. Patidar scored 93 runs off 33 balls against the same team they defeated yesterday. He has a strike rate of 196.76 and the sum of his total runs after the whole season of 2026 concludes is 486.
At this point, the Indian men's cricket team's T20 batting lineup does not have much vacancy. As with each passing day, we're getting new talented players coming into the front. But, comparing most of the mid-order youngsters this 32-year-old man has got some brownie points and no doubt that includes yesterday's victory.
Though he was chosen previously in the Indian Cricket team (men's) and made his debut in 2023, he couldn't deliver a remarkable performance yet. But after taking his performance as a skipper of RCB in 2025 under heavy pressure and emerging as a successful captain in IPL 2026 into consideration, we can hope that we will witness him playing a white-ball tournament soon.
RCB as a team has had a series of captains who hold professional excellence and are known internationally. But, none of them could make the victory possible that Patidar has. This is itself a huge statement regarding his career.
Therefore, Sportscape believes that the day is not far away when we will be witnessing Rajat Patidar, a Ranji Trophy player of Madhya Pradesh, who joined the team as a replacement and an IPL captain who has won the trophy twice consecutively under the blue jersey of the Indian men's cricket team.
