Thanjavur’s Satya Stadium has inaugurated a state-of-the-art para-athlete centre, led by CM M.K. Stalin and Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, boosting inclusivity in Tamil Nadu sports.

Indian sporting culture is living a revolution as it welcomes inclusivity with open arms, evidenced in initiatives like the ₹15 crore para athlete stadium in Coimbatore or the 3200 sq ft specialized training facility in Tiruchirappalli. The latest harbinger of this inclusive development is the inauguration of the dedicated parasports arena at Annai Satya Stadium in Thanjavur by CM M.K. Stalin along with Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin.
The sports facility is a flagship initiative to promote the creation of a wider district-level sporting ecosystem to aid para-athletes throughout the pyramid of regional to international levels. The facility has been installed inside the Thanjavur-based multi-sport disciplinary complex managed by the State development authority of Tamil Nadu.

Roadmap to the inclusive facility
The major vision behind the project was to bolster para-athlete development adjacent to mainstream infrastructure to prevent isolation downsides. The highlights of the facility include barrier-free infrastructure with wheelchair-enabled entry and exit gates along with dedicated zones for training, including specialized equipment. Care has also been taken of accessible seats and spectator areas. Other initiatives to foster sports inclusivity shall have mention of the 1 crore para sports arena in Khajamalai along with the state inaugurating its first-ever para badminton facility at the Chennai-based Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.
Tamil Nadu’s inclusive sports vision
These endeavors aim to foster ease of training and talent acquisition exposure for the special athletes through campaigns like the Tamil Nadu Senior Para Athletic Championship. With the CM's declaration of having tripled the sports allocation to ₹1,945 crores, the deputy CM dovetailed, proclaiming the provision of ₹19 crores in high cash incentives to para-athletes to promote inclusive growth.
