Previous sporting initiatives at VOC
In 2022, the VOC Port Authority received an invitation for an Expression of Interest (EOI) to develop water sports activities at the beach area near the south end of the port’s premises. The project was aimed to be developed under the PPP model. What makes it an ideal place for conducting water sports? The port is an artificial harbour connected by deep water dredged channel and is protected by two breakwaters.
The port also has around 17 berths for handling capacity for 70 million tonnes per annum and a dedicated passenger terminal with all basic amenities. Also, ideal wind and weather conditions make it a suitable venue for water sports to take place. Although no organization of any competition has been publicly documented.
