From the Hills to the Field Arunachal Pradesh’s Bold Play to Lead Northeast Sports
Arunachal Pradesh is positioning itself as a leading sports hub in Northeast India by upgrading infrastructure and promoting key disciplines like football, archery, and shooting

When the laurels of the northeast shall be sung in sports achievements, Arunachal Pradesh wishes to be the flagship state with achievements like the FIFA-compliant certification of its Dibang-based stadium.
Right after the Arunachal Olympic Association met earlier this month on the need for infrastructural upgrades anchored sports development, the Union minister for the development of the northeastern region, J.M. Significant minutes of the meeting
The significant mentions of the discussion included the promotion of sports like football, archery, and shooting in the state. The minister had also met with the North East Sports Association secretary-general John F. Kharshiing earlier this month to discuss the viability of Arunachal Pradesh to host the 4th Northeastern Games. The secretary general also suggested the installation of P.E.B. indoor infrastructure and the promotion of funding through the corporate responsibility sector across all 8 regions of the Seven Sisters states.
Arunachal Pradesh was suggested to bag 129 such halls with the following vision.to address the gap in access to basic sports facilities, particularly in rural and remote areas, and to create year-round training and community engagement spaces for the youths. " Karshiing said.
“The proposed fund would help bridge critical gaps in training, exposure, and participation, especially in meeting travel and logistical costs for athletes competing in national events," the secretary general believed to be a solution to the geographical and infrastructural challenges of the sports department in the northeast.
With the installation of FIFA-compliant turf in the Anini Stadium , the state is trying to bolster the football spirit of the area and transform the sports ecosystem of the state through a last-mile approach.
