Maharashtra to Set Up District Sports Academies Under Sports Prabodhini Initiative

Where lies the dreams of every aspiring actor, Maharashtra has given a strong multicultural heritage legacy to the country. Days after the announcement of a landmark stadium to be built in Navi Mumbai with a massive seating capacity of 100000 seats, the CM of Maharashtra is back with yet another groundbreaking proclamation.

Devabhau is being appreciated for his latest provision of 1500 schools across all districts. Within this umbrella scheme lies the provision of a sports facility to be dedicated to grassroots sports development in every district.

Out of the numerous educational institutions being built, a few shall be selected to receive the honor of having the sports facility of their district. The name given to this initiative is "Sports Probodhini." The targeted facilities shall be developed as dedicated sports academies.

The primary goal behind this project is to inculcate the motivation for sports at a young age. The initiative is very beneficial for grassroots-level sports promotion, which shall lead to the development of sports culture from a bottom-up approach.

The Maharashtra government has been prioritising sports as a developmental medium,prioritizing thereby including sports facilities in all of its announcements. The Black Diamond Stadium was a unique project whereby the name "Black Rock" was given due to the richness of coal found in the targeted area of Vidarbha.The CM also took to media to announce the creation of 25 centers of excellence and 96 sports development hubs in evolving the state as a major sports hub ahead of the Olympics
