he Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has sanctioned ₹1.94 crore for the development of a multi-sport facility at Mor Hindi High School in Ramdaspeth

While the spotlight shall be on Ahmedabad for the 2030 Commonwealth, the entire country of India is running a sports infrastructural upgradation haul. The effects are also seen in our winter capital, Maharashtra, as it announces projects like the Vidarbha-based Black Diamond Stadium.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has sanctioned ₹1.94 crores as declared by its commissioner, Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhary, for a stadium in the heart of the now-defunct Barrister Sheshrao Wankhede Vidya Niketanmor, known as Mor Hindi High School, located in Ramdaspeth, Nagpur.

Dynamic inspection team
Dr. Chaudhari inspected the school campus along with NMC medical health officer Dr. Deepak Selokar, Dharampeth zone assistant commissioner Snehalata Kumbhar, sports officer Piyush Ambulkar, executive engineers Manoj Singh and Naresh Gadre, deputy education officer Sanjay Dighore, and representatives of HCL Foundation, including Piyush Wankhede and Ajinkya Kulkarni.
Project roadmap for sports led development
The facility shall host a skating rink, badminton and pickleball courts, and a basketball court. It shall emerge as a quality training center to provide accessibility to regional athletes. Playgrounds and courts shall also be developed to enhance grassroots-level sports participation.The complex shall also aid in early talent identification and provide the requisite athletic skills.
The project is being targeted to take 180 days for its completion. Provisions for clean and hygienic toilet facilities are also being prioritized.“One of the indoor halls is being activated for regular badminton games, while a skating rink and basketball court will be developed outside," said Ambulka. This move comes right after the ₹33 crore allocation for the RTMNU Indoor sports project suggesting the vision of the state government for sports led growth.
