Varanasi’s Ganjari International Cricket Stadium nears completion with 2027 debut in sight
Varanasi's Ganjari International Cricket Stadium's construction has reached its final stage as confirmed by Project Director.

In a recent update regarding the construction of Ganjari International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi, the stadium has reached the final stage of development. Project Director Saroj Shukla has confirmed that 92% of the construction work has been completed. Inculcating modern facilities with the cultural heritage of Kashi, the stadium is expected to host international matches by 2027.
Approximately 450 crore rupees have been allocated to the development of the international cricket stadium in the Ganjari village of Rajatlab. Built in an area of 31 acres, the stadium's capacity has been extended to 32 thousand spectators.
At the heart of the stadium is its Lord Shiva theme-based architecture. The Varanasi cricket stadium will have a damru-shaped media centre along with four trident-shaped floodlights. Two modern digital scoreboards will also be installed in the stadium.
The Ganjari International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi is being built to have an exceptional drainage system to minimise the effect of rain during international matches. Despite two hours of heavy rain, the stadium will be prepared for the match within half an hour.
The stadium's foundation stone was laid in 2023 by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as an initiative to create high-end cricket facilities for local players and also promote economic activities within the region.
Sportscape believes the Ganjari International Cricket Stadium is an important step in building cricket infrastructure in different regions. Backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the upcoming stadium can help identify local talent and boost the local economy. Despite its standout architecture, the stadium's long-term impact will be assessed by its ability to host international matches.
